La traduzione è da migliorare: La parola russa МИР significa sia PACE che MONDO;di conseguenza in una locandina cera il gioco di parole МИРУ-МИР,ovvero PACE NEL MONDO. Però hanno tradotto WORLD IN THE WORLD! State più attenti con le traduzioni

Magari anche noi lo avessimo fatto con tutti i nostri manifesti del XX secolo.

An excellent source for Soviet-era iconography and propaganda pieces. Equally useful for an artist, anthropologist, or historian. Well organized too.

I do like the graphic style of the art. I've seen posters like this before but only briefly. Here I can study the style. It has also sparked my interest in learning more about what's behind the graphics. There's more of a selection than I thought and the categories are a great touch.

Love to see all this old art works by the great Soviet Union.

Great historical & cultural references, but a little truth in advertising would be appreciated. :-)

Thank you to the authors for creating this amazing app. As a graphic artist born in during the Cold War, this app is a real gem. This artwork was forbidden to me in the first half of my life. To have the opportunity to study it now is a dream come true. It brings to life a style particular to a unique period in Russian history. The use of illustration to shape the thinking of a nation is pure genius. I could teach an art course on the subject just using these illustrations. The simple but powerful use of color, the bold, in-your-face imagery, the dramatic and flagrantly heroic poses, the depiction of the uncomfortable relationship between labor and war, religion and war, peace and war...everything centers around a hunger for peace and prosperity juxtaposed with constant vigilance and a preparedness for conflict. These fascinating images teach volumes about the soul and psyche of the Russian people. I could study these illustrations for decades! I use these images as wallpaper for my iPad but even now, I feel uncomfortable just looking at them, much less displaying them publicly, because of my Cold War upbringing. Some of the illustrations still feel extremely dangerous to me as an American. The fear of being branded a Communist for admiring these images still haunts me. Even though the world has finally changed, I still fear repercussions. That's amazing to me. As an artist, I absolutely love knowing that even now, decades after the end of the Cold War, these illustrations still have such power over me. That's the true meaning of art! Well done, and thank you for bringing into the light this amazing artform that was hidden from me for so long.

This highlights the Soviet effort to effect societal change using the power of graphic art. These images convey human pathos and yearning to all who view them - literate or not. Big Brother???

Extensive collection, fascinating evolution of poster art

Beautiful illustrations. Wonderful history. Awkward translations. It would also be nice to have an option to sort chronologically. It almost makes up for the old posters I bought in a St. Petersburg's bookstore in 1994 -- they were stolen in the Moscow airport.

It's obvious a lot of work went into compiling this collection. The translations for the text on the posters could be a little better, but overall this a fine (and fascinating) application.

Had a lot of fun browsing through the posters, especially the civil security series. Felt like back in my USSR childhood with civil emergency trainings and playing with gas masks and fake grenades instead of toys.

This app is asome, posters that I have never seen, awesome definition, and many many posters

Not worth the money - installed it, spent 3 minutes browsing the posters, and then uninstalled it. Aside from a few nice pieces, most of the artwork is poor (to each their own!)

Neat to see how things were in the USSR and thinking how it might soon be in the USA

This app has a great collection of posters with some fascinating propaganda art. Look elsewhere for translations, though. These are painfully off in most cases and incomplete in others.

Entertaining for hours. You'll get lost in it.

The selection is dazzling. The translations: eccentric. If only I spoke Russian.

I find the posters fascinating! I look at a few at a time, just getting the flavor. It's also interesting to try and puzzle out some of the Russian words.
